Sam + Jenna

A beautiful day in Fernie! We experienced just about every single type of weather this day. From extreme heat and not a single cloud in the sky to a bit of a rain fall! That certainly did not put a damper on Sam and Jenna celebrating their commitment to each other in front of all their most important people. Here are a few of our favourites from the day!

Melissa + Kurt - Engaged!

This engagement session was rescheduled so many times due to crazy weather and the day before my family and I flew out to Tonroto we figured this might be our last chance to make it work! And wouldn't you believe it…we approached Moraine Lake and it started to rain. Not a super big deal right? Well, as we climbed higher it started to snow…alright we can work with this. Well, we climbed even higher and by the time we reach the parking lot we were standing in a full winter storm in June! After meeting up with Melissa and Kurt we decided that no amount of crazy weather was going to stop this shoot from happening and decided to power through! Im so glad we did because I love these photos and this couple. Im really looking forward to shooting their beautiful Autumn wedding this year!

Jenelle + Justin

From time to time I connect with a couple on a deeper level then usual and thats what happened with Jenelle and Justin. Considering that it's very rare for me to meet someone in person on their actual wedding day and not prior to that, I honestly felt like I had known them forever. Shooting them was so easy and it flowed so organically. Jenelles feet gently kiss the ground as she moves with the grace of a dancer.

And can we chat about Jenelles moment with her mother as she was putting on her wedding dress? I asked for her bridesmaid to step out of the room for a couple moments while she and her mother sat in the silence of the sanctity of the tradition of helping her dress for the last time. I stood at a distance to let them absorb the moment because it was heavy, I could feel it. As I saw her finishing up I got a bit closer and didn’t realize that I was crying until I lifted my camera up to my face and noticed it was wet. This is why I do what I do. These are the moments we want to hold on to.

Thank you so much Jenelle and Justin for being so kind to us and being such genuine and amazing people.

Brittany + Daniel

To say that Brittany is “sweet” would not do her any justice. She truly is the salt of the earth. Humble, kind and unapologetically light hearted. Her and Daniel make such a wonderful pair and we felt right at home on their wedding day. We were treated like guests during the reception and both sides of the family were so kind and thoughtful to us. Basically the entire day was amazing. Enjoy a few of my favourites from their day.

The Wild Kin Workshop

We had the pleasure of capturing a few behind the scenes footage for a workshop put together by Kaihla Tonai and Emily Oud. Things aligned just perfectly since we already had to be in calgary to pick up some material for our house reno and as it turned out my Mother surprised us by coming down for the weekend as well where she got to meet my daughter for the very first time. Kind of a big deal right!?

The ladies from the workshop also set up a couple styled shoots so while Lee was filming I grabbed a quick couple shots from the 70’s inspired shoot for myself because hello…Im obsessed with all things vintage!

Here are some of the shots from the weekend and feel free to check out more info on their workshop!

Connor and Catriona

Anyone who knows me knows that I have issues with the cold. I have a really severe form of raynauds syndrome which means my extremities turn white pretty much the second I step outside and it takes hours for me to get the blood circulating again even once Im back in a warm setting. This causes me to get frost bite super quick and developing possibly worse issues like nerve damage to my fingers and toes. Which is why I don't shoot outdoors in frigid temperatures. However, if I take the proper precautions I can typically power through! Which is why I only accept one winter wedding a year. I LOVE the look of wintery weddings, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to photograph this beautiful couple on their special day. The moment I met Catriona at our consultation I knew I liked her vibes and that we were a good fit for each other. To add icing to the cake, the day of the wedding wasn't really THAT cold! SUCCESS!!

Connor and Catriona actually have a really interesting story about how they met. It was completely accidental. Connor thought he was booking a flight to Monaco but found himself Africa bound to Morocco instead. They met in a hostel during what Catriona calls "the happiest accident ever!"

Enjoy!
